How to Re-Ink and Maintain Your Xstampers

How to Use Your Xstamper N-SeriesXstamper Logo

To use your Xstamper, gently press the handle against the paper. Unlike conventional stamps, a hard strike or rocking motion is not necessary. A light press to the stamping surface will ensure the highest quality impression. Allow a few seconds between stamping for maximum ink flow.

The Xstamper’s dyestuff ink is ideal for paper because it spreads into the paper and air-dries quickly. The Xstamper produces less desirable results on surface-treated paper, like photo paper and parchment paper, because the coating retards ink absorption. The standard Xstamper in the turquoise and grey mounts should not be used on non-porous surfaces like metal, glass or plastic surfaces. Xstamper has special stamps and ink for stamping on these non-porous surfaces.

Normal usage constitutes daily business uses including stamping on paper, cardboard or other like materials. Normal usage does not include commercial or industrial stamping or any use where the original hand stamp has been modified or used in conjunction with any type of stamping machine.

Cleaning the Stamp Surface

Custom-made Xstamper stamps should be stored in a dust-free environment. The tacky side of any plastic tape can be used to remove dust or paper fibers which may accumulate on the stamp surface. Plain rubbing alcohol on a dust free cloth can be used on the stamp surface to clean any dirt that may build up. Never rub the stamp surface hard or allow sharp objects to come into contact with the rubber.

Re-Inking Xstamper N Series

You will know when it’s time to re-ink your stamp when the impression becomes consistently light. Most Xstampers can be re-filled through the back by removing the handle. They are designed this way to keep your fingers clean and the ink free.

Refill your Xstamper stamp with the original color of the Xstamper ink. Xstamper has many different models and there are different ways of re-inking. For a complete and illustrated re-inking guide you can refer to the package or package insert, if you saved it. Of course, we expect that you did not save these instructions since we never save ours, so do what we do and launch the PDF for detailed re-inking instructions below:

A selection of ink colors are available in bottles of 10ml, 20ml and 60ml sizes.

Changing the Ink Color

You cannot change the ink color of an Xstamper because the ink formulas will conflict. If you try to do this, you will end up with a blurry impression. The reason is because the pores (those tiny holes that hold the ink) in the Xstamper stamps become clogged when you introduce a different ink color which has a different ink formula. Also, you may not get a true color since essentially, you are mixing two colors. So the bottom line is, you can’t go from black to red.

Use Only Xstamper Refill Ink

Xstamper tells us that “all brands of stamp ink are not the same” and that stamp ink formulas are different. One brand’s formula may not necessarily mix with another. Also, some inks are not truly ink. Rather, they are a softening agent (as is the case with gel or jelly stamps). These softening agents are re-activators that simply release ink from within the product and this type of ink will not work. In fact, it may damage your Xstamper and void the 100% guarantee.

How to Use Your Xstamper ClassiX

ClassiX allows you to make thousands of impressions without re-inking! They are an excellent choice for your high volume stamping needs. ClassiX ergonomic construction enables you to hold the stamp any way you want to make great impressions. It has a built-in patented re-inking system which allows you to easily and accurately re-ink the stamp to its original printing quality without removing the ink pad.  All ClassiX self-inking stamps feature precision components for a smooth, quiet action and many years of trouble-free operation.

The ClassiX ink is ideal for paper because it spreads into the paper and air-dries quickly. ClassiX produces less desirable results on surface-treated paper, such as photo or parchment, because the coating retards ink absorption. It is not recommended for glass, plastic, metal, or fabric.

The Heavy Duty metal Series features a heavy-duty frame and precision components for a smooth, quiet action and many years of trouble-free operation. Deep moulded bands provide clean, sharp impressions. Over-sized band adjustment wheels prevent your fingers from contacting the bands and make adjustments easy.

The M 70 Series self-inking stamps have been engineered to be lightweight, durable and easy to use. The use of metal in areas of stress provides excellent durability, while the use of plastic has been carefully selected for ergonomics, weight reduction and ease of use.

Re-Inking Xstamper ClassiX

You will know when it’s time to re-ink your stamp when the impression becomes consistently light. Refill only with original color ClassiX Refill ink.

The ink pad for Xstamper hand stamps slides out like a drawer and the holder is removable. The ink pads for Xstamper Heavy Duty Daters and Light Duty Daters are also removable. This allows the pad to be re-inked through the top, re-inking from the face of the pad, or replaced completely.

A selection of ink colors is available in 6cc and 2Oz bottles.

Changing the Ink Color

A big advantage to self-inking stamps is that you can change the color of the stamp by simply replacing the ink pad with a different color. Xstamper recommends that ink not be mixed. Different formulations of ink for different colors may cause impressions that are blurry if the ink colors are mixed.

Use Only ClassiX Refill Ink

All brands of ink are not the same. The formulas are different. A brand other than Xstamper may not mix with the Xstamper ClassiX brand.
