WATER COOLER TALK
Just like Fish Frys and Brat Fest in the spring, Oktoberfest is a big deal in Madison. While it would make sense for most Oktoberfest celebrations to happen in October, the original festival was moved to September in its home region of Bavaria in Germany to take advantage of warmer weather. Here in the Madison area, many of the best events also tend to happen towards the end of September, with a few lingering into October. If you’re looking to break out your lederhosen or dirndl (or even if you don’t), you can enjoy these four events.
How prepared is your business for whatever Mother Nature throws at you? September is National Preparedness Month, according to FEMA. While in the heat of the moment your first concern is about you and your own family’s safety, it’s also important to expect the unexpected at your facility. With Hurricanes Harvey & Irma fresh in our minds, it’s important to take this time to assess your own emergency preparedness plans, and prepare for the unexpected.
More than ever, local businesses face unique challenges. EZ Office Products (EZOP) is always thinking about our future workforce in Dane County and why it is so important to our overall economic prosperity. This summer, we partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County (BGDC) and their mentoring program to participate in providing a meaningful professional experience. Meet Yee Lee, our 2017 summer intern. EZOP provided Yee with a multi-faceted experience — from understanding how we help customers, to distribution and the way in which we care for customer deliveries, to marketing and the importance of good graphics, and even going through the exercise of an executive briefing to our owners, Rose and Gary Molz. Here’s a little more about Yee and his work at EZOP this summer.

Here are a few items that we think will help ease your frustrations and help you work smarter, not harder.
Meet one of our EZOPeops, Steve Schwenn. A graduate of Madison College, Steve joined our crew last year as one of our Delivery Service Reps. Before working at EZOP, Steve was a service sales rep for Cintas. Read more about Steve below.
2.9 million non-fatal workplace injuries were reported by employers in 2015, according to OSHA. June is National Safety Month, and there’s no better time to look at the state of workplace safety. There’s so much to love about spring in Madison. May is my favorite month because of the nice weather and everything is in bloom throughout town. As May progresses, I ring in the “unofficial start of summer” in the most Wisconsinite way possible: Brat Fest. This festival features high quality brats, beer, ice cream, along with plenty of music and fun for the whole family. While there are many hours spent planning the event, it’s something I look forward to every year. Below are my three favorite things about Brat Fest.
With National BBQ Month in full swing, we can’t help but feel like summer’s so close we can almost taste it. As we sit in our offices with the thought of sunshine, pool parties, and barbecues running through our minds, we decided there’s no better time than now to plan for your summer office party. See below for some of our favorite party supplies that will guarantee you a true taste of summer.
Summertime in Madison is the best time to be here! Personally, Gary and I celebrate our anniversary in July, and both of our birthdays in August, making it our favorite time of year. There’s also something for everyone going on throughout downtown. Here are some of our staff’s picks for the best things to do during the summer.
