Say Thank You to Your Administrative Professionals!
The Origins of Administrative Professionals Day
The National Secretary’s Foundation, now known as the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), worked with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to create “National Secretaries Week” in 1952. The first Secretaries Day took place during that same year in June, but was moved to April in 1955. The name of the holiday changed to Administrative Professionals Week in 2000, to accommodate the numerous roles and wide ranging job titles of support staff. Today, the United States has more than 22 million administrative professionals.
